Ataru, who suffers from "savant syndrome," has the power to discover, observe, see through, and deduct microscopic evidence of unsolved cases. Why does he always go to the criminal sites? What explains his strange behavior? His sad past will be revealed as the story unfolds.
An explosion occurs at a chemical factory, leaving one person dead. The investigation team concludes that it is merely an accident, but Ebina Maiko has her doubts. When she goes to the site again, she finds a man who introduces himself as "Chokozai." After blurting out a series of words that Maiko cannot understand, he suddenly falls asleep. Maiko decides to look up the meaning of these words. She is taken aback when she discovers that when put together, these words provide the key to solving the case.

p.s. read at your own risks. major spoilers coming up.
i love love this drama. it got this great balance to it. the story, the characters, everything. there are lots of repetitive gestures and lines but it didn't really bother me. i so LOVE the cast and their acting. i think they really did great. Chiaki's expressions are priceless! and i may be biased but i really love Kitamura Kazuki and Tanaka Tetsushi. Nakai's acting as Ataru was amazing. you'll see his character progress and get attached to the people around him. he wasn't really speaking much in the beginning until he was alr expressing himself at the end. i really like the relationship between him, Chiaki's character and Kitamura's character. it wasn't awkward. and i like the was it ended, that Ataru had to go, that's better. i don't like others' idea that Ataru and Ebina got to get together. NO! i think the love between them wasn't romantic love.
and i love all the references to other dramas and events and people and other more! Kagi no Kakatta Heya, SPEC, Yokai Ningen BEM, the wedding, eclipse, and the elderly couple (with the supposed to be mistress) appearing in every episode. and others that i don't know and not aware of.
My Ratings: i'll give this 9/10 :)
